On again...off again...

No, I'm not posting about a high school relationship. : ) I'm posting about my healthy habits! I'm in a book study involving the book "YOU! On a Diet" and I absolutely love it. The big ideas are fill up on good for you foods and exercise 30 minutes a day. SIMPLE. Right? Wrong! When I LOVE all kinds of foods that aren't good for me! And my dumb alarm didn't wake me up this morning to work out. Excuses, excuses. I am trying though.

Brrrr

Wowza! It is C-O-L-D! I'm so thankful our car has been starting! Today I got to give JJ and his friend TB a ride to school when both of TB's cars wouldn't start! I dropped them off with a "Have a good day at school boys!" call. heehee so much fun! These frigid temps just make me want to bundle up with a big blankie and a good book for like two days. Too bad life gets in the way of these plans! JJ is sacked out right now with a headache and cold-like symptoms. I told him he just has to get better by Saturday -- his birthday -- we have lots of plans including some outdoor hockey, a movie, a jewelry party for the ladies (I'm such a mean wifey!) and some free food al Paradiso. I'm headed off to Bible study. Stay warm!

I love my Gma!

I am utterly blessed to have the family I have. I have "Farm" Grandparents (my Mom's family) and "City" Grandparents (Dad's side). My Farm Grandparents are in Heaven now, but we are all thankful to have my City Grandparents still with us. Just today I got a note from my City Grandma. She knows I'm quite the shopper (though JJ is trying to limit me with a darn budget!) and always sends me JCPenney's coupons. Since she retired from there, she receives all the good stuff in the mail! : ) It's always fun to get mail no matter what, but a special note from family is always a day brightener! Love you Grandma!

Come to the Water

I love the Church we attend. I look forward to Sundays when I just get to feel spiritually renewed. Today Pastor Paul continued talking about W(w)ater and "Drinking Deeply". I connected with his discussion of God calling US to come to the water. Often I'll find myself praying for God to come and help me with such and so. But we have to do the work. It's up to us to come.

A few teaching stories

Alright, I just have to write these down before I forget! I student taught in a 1st grade classroom. Among other things, I learned that 1st graders provide unending moments of comic relief -- most of the time without realizing it! Here are three quick stories:

One of the girls in my class (K) said, "Mrs. J, you look pretty, even in that dress." After her mother, my supervising teacher and I cracked up a bit, she revised it to especially in that dress.

(B) was from the south and had a great little drawl. He was also in speech for some work on certain sounds. One of the sounds happened to be /k/, which came out like /t/. During show and tell one day, he shared, "My aunt has sixteen titties!" It took a minute to realize the aunt's cat just had babies. Oh dear!

(T) had a particular problem one day. He raised his hand and said, "Teacher, whenever I look at (J) my heart starts to beat faster." I asked, "What does that mean?", to which he replied, "It means I'm in love." Later that day he told me that he was "ready to tell her she was his girlfriend."

Numero Uno!

Alright, alright, I'm joining the fad. I've really enjoyed reading a couple of blogs my friends and family have and well, I'm just jumping on the bandwagon I guess. I'm interested in starting a blog just basically to have a history of what's going on with me and my family. I've always thought I don't have anything interesting going on with me -- and you may agree -- but that's ok! : )
